Ford broken at 140000km after service at halfway ford goodwood
On the 8th February 2021, I had taken in my vehicle Ford Ranger D/C 4x4 Xl, model 2016 for its 140 000km service at halfway ford in goodwood western cape.
On the 9th February 2021, the vehicle broke down, I informed the dealership that the vehicle had broken down as they had recently worked on it. A technician was dispatched and had conducted a diagnostics, which revealed that the turbo had seased and estimated R44k for the repairs.
I complained that the estimate was too high, as I had sent the vehicle to them without any defects, I also asked what they had done that might have resulted in the turbo damage. They denyied doing anything to the turbo and claimed to have done a normal service procedure. Ok we agreed on a reckon turbo which costed me R13k vat incl. So I took the vehicle back to the dealership for repairs, as they said the turbo broke as normal wear and tear. This was strange because the vehicle had no issues prior the service and it had never skipped a service interval.
A week later, I called the dealership again to enquire on the progress of the repairs since I needed the vehicle for work, I was then informed that one of the pistons had broke. To replace the engine would cost R129k.
I lodged a complaint of negligence to Ford South Africa about the dealership, because it is too much of a coincidence that I took the vehicle in for service and now I have to cough up R129k. The findings came back stating that there was nothing found of negligence.
Fact is, halfway ford goodwood is making use of un qualified students as their service technicians, the t6 rangers have a procedure wherein the oil should not be drained for more than 10min so that it's components don't run dry.
Upon research, I have noted that there seems to be a lot more people with the similar issue, I want Ford to take responsibility and own up that their t6 2,2 engines have a problem, the use of under qualified technicians is also wrong.
