Hakuna Matata - its the Staff's attitude, not the customers experience
What a stunning venue - which is why we chose to spend our Honeymoon evening there, with the full SPA treatment. We were met at reception, by a woman who was clearly irritated that we had arrived and furthermore that she had to walk to show us where the Spa was. There was no warm welcome, no explanation of the Itinerary of when what was going to take place - as we had chosen a package. Although the Spa treatments were not bad overall - it was almost as if the staff are not allowed to talk to you at all. We tried being friendly and just received one worded answers . Sadly I would not recommend the manicure either - the nail polish didn't even last two days. After that we were lead to the picnic area and told to wait. Still no mention of how things were working or where our lodge was or if we could even take our luggage in. After a while a gentleman came to help us. He was friendly, but informed us that as we were one of the only two couples at the Guesthouse they would not be bothering to open the restaurant and we were to eat our dinner in our room. The food was really good - no complaints there, just that we didn't get to experience the beauty of our surroundings or the pretty fairy lit restaurant. The room was pleasant enough, the only fault was that there isn't a single dustbin in or around the room. So you can't clean up after yourself. The morning arrived and no word about the breakfast which was paid for and included in our package. So we had to go try hunt down the gentleman who helped us the day before. Breakfast was somewhat rushed and they made it clear once again just how unwelcome we were. When my husband requested if he could maybe get a second cup of coffee, he got a blunt NO back. We left with the thought that Hakuna Matata - is not for guests, but is in fact the mindset of the unfriendly and unhelpful staff. They certainly showed they have no worries for their guests. We won't be going back nor recommend it to anyone. After all we have better ways of spending the R3500 than on a poor and regrettable experience.
