SMS Crazy

In November 2023, my husband, JS Whiteley, paid the R79 Pensioners' SABC TV licence. Proof of payment was sent through. What I did not notice was that the last digit of the account was omitted and therefore SABC Accounts were unable to consolidate the account.

Hahn Collections started sending SMSs, almost daily, requesting payment. I emailed Hahn Collections notifying them that the amount had been paid. To no avail. The SMSs continued. Emails were also sent to us and I rep**** by email. In desperation I telephoned Hahn Collections and informed them in the email that the account had been paid and sent proof of payment. I telephoned again a few weeks later stating that I had had no reply to my email. I was flabbergasted at the answer "I'M SORRY WE RECEIVE TOO MANY EMAILS TO READ THEM." I telephoned SABC TV licences and they confirmed the account had been paid after further proof of payment was sent. Then it emerged that one digit was missing at the end of the account number. This was corrected and SABC was able to reconcile the account and sent an email and later an SMS confirming the account was in order.

Despite this Hahn Collections kept sending SMSs and emails, each becoming slightly more threatening in that a trace would be put on the account.

I once more phoned Hahn Collections sending them the email from SABC TV Licence Department confirming the account was in order. I spoke to Hope, who said the instruction had been passed to the supervisor. I told Hope (I think) that if any more SMSs were sent from Hahn Collections, I would put my case to Hello Peter.

Today, 30th September, 2024, yet another SMS from Hahn Collections stating that a trace had been put on to JS Whiteley.
