Exploitation of people by banks and debt collectors

<p>My husband was handed over for debt collection to Hack, Stuppel and Ross Attorneys by Wesbank.</p> <p>HS&R never submitted statements and when I became his bookkeeper, I insisted on statements - a lot of effort before I eventually got a statement from Wesbank via HS&R.</p> <p>Kia Sorento was repossessed and sold : a balance of R158 000.00 was the opening balance when handed over to HS&R</p> <p>The statement I received, stated my husband was owing R300 000.00. I did a reconciliation only to find duplicated entries as well as interest being charged on handed over account. *******.</p> <p>I queried this - they ignored me. I requested a settlement amount in February 2016 - they gave us an amount of R251 000.00. After being refused several home loan applications, it came out he gets refused due to this issue although paying off monthly - I refuse to pay more than R100.00 per month as they do not sent monthly statements as they are supposed to. I told them I will report them to you, Carte Blanche, Law Society of SA and Banking Ombudsman. SUDDENLY I received a statement with an outstanding balance of R155 000.00!!!!!! Settlement offer of R93 000.00 - I offered R45 000 as I still do not agree with the outstanding balance they are claiming it to be - I conducted yet another reconciliation from old Wesbank statements I found . NO ANSWER. I just received an sms 'Thank you for payments received, please note that your next payment will be much appreciated' from HS&R.</p>
