Haartbeest Bush Lodge #5

It started off with the host being simply reminded to have the geyser on before we arrived for our one night stay.
The reply from the host was catty and rude.
So we get there and got lost because the directions given were very confusing. Contacted the host and she demanded that we must read the link sent to us.
Finally we get to this little cottage which is not too bad except the fridge/freezer was off and there were no fans. So we decided not to complain to the host since she already started treating us like we’re a nuisance.
The water in the ‘hot tub’ was dirty, cover on the ground, hammock was disgusting and ashtray was half filled with rainwater.
Next morning we were supposed to check out at 10 but we left for Jhb at 8am.
On our way home, I decided to message the owner privately to let her know firstly, she’s rude and secondly the fridge was off and why were there no fans.
She calls me a bully!
Said if the fridge is off, why is that a problem?
Lol, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry!
Still didn’t answer about the lack of fans.
Alicia, the host has an attitude like nothing I’ve seen before and I wish we read up on the place before we booked. We booked through Airbnb.
Afterwards we saw quite a bit of complaints from Bookings.com.
She went further to leave a nasty review about us but privately pleaded with me before that to not take it to social media when I made no mention of doing so.
She is not cut out for this and she emphasizes ‘rustic’ just so she doesn’t need to put more effort into the place.
We have reported her to Airbnb and urge others to report her to. She picks and chooses who and how she wants to be nice to. Very unfair!
The place is not cheap for ‘rustic’.
It’s a joke actually.
