The Gym Company not cancelling contracts as requested
Me and my son's joined the Gym Company Jacaranda Centre in December 2022. I had to cancel my membership half way through the year due to injury. That was smooth sailing as I just went in and cancelled by the manager. My two sons stopped going to the gym in September 2023 as they were busy with their final exams and also working part time. I went into the gym at the end of the year and requested to cancel their membership, I was then told that it had to be done online. I really struggled to do this and eventually someone at the gym advised me how to do it. You have to log a ticket - I did that on 15 January and had no feedback, I logged other tickets on the 19th January 2 February and also 12 February 2024. Today I logged another one. In-between I spoke on the phone to the manager of the branch, who then took my phone number and still I had no response. The tickets just have a message that states Max time exceeded, escelated to national manager. The "month to month" contract that I signed states that after cancelation one has to a further three months upon cancelation. which I am prepared to do as I have signed for that but with Gym company taking their time, I will have to pay even more months and all the while we are not using their service. One cannot even shop in Jacaranda Centre without a Gym Company sales representative harassing you, and also the personalized exercise and diet plan is not personalized but a generic paper given to everyone with not a lot of information. Don't fall in the trap of the gym company contract - You will surely be disappointed and not be able to cancel.
