Ridiculous Gym Company Cancellation Fee

I just spoke to a consultant who advised that the cancellation fee is 30% of the remaining monthly premium. They couldn't provide me with the total of what the fee would be however assured me that I can only send through a letter of cancellation once they have sent me a quotation for the cancelation fee. I was advised to call back in a week so that they could calculate the fees for me. I was also advised that I cannot calculate my own fees as there are many different aspects that affect how the fees are calculated. And that was the end of it, no further assistance could be given to me. I also requested that the total be emailed to me however he wouldn't take down my email. Additionally the call center agent was rude, spoke over me numbers times and had a couldn't care less attitude.

At Virgin Active the cancellation fee is calculated at 20%. Considering that this is a 3 year contract and we are 2 years into the contract this amount is ridiculous.
