Please assist in this matter

On 2017 I joined gym company while working for a certain company before a week end after joined I was booked into the hearing and fired immediately I the procced to inform the Agent who recruited me at the mall and explain my situation to terminate the contract which she assured me she cancel it now 3 years later I got a Job when tried to fill the forms and start training am told I must pay R1000 rejoined as I did not full fill my last contract. I believe this is totally unfair on me can this be reviewed as I did the right thing.
