Pathetic service when cancelling my contract

I have been trying to cancel my gym membership since the beginning of the year. I have only received one email back asking for my ID number so they are able to verify my contract and I have never heard back since then. When signing up they are very eager to help you out however, when I need to cancel my contact no one gets back to me!
