Pathetic Customer Service - Credit OVERDUE!

I have been with Virgin Active for a number of years and always recieved the best customer service delivery. I signed up with The Gym Company in January 2019. There were a million promises surrounding the membership signing up. One of my highlighted concerns was possible relocation for work at the time, i was reassured by the salesman that it is a smooth sailing process. The contract that I signed was for a period of 36 x months! That firstly for me was unheard off, secondly it did raise alarm bells because of the commitment over 36 x months. I have been unemployed since May 2019, the first step was to contact The Gym Company and request for a membership take over on the balance of the months remaining as it became a luxury. It took me just over 2 x weeks to receive a response, when i contacted their front desk to request management or admin email addresses, no one could assist me! Eventually after 2 x bothersome weeks of back and forth an administrator contacted me to give me a hefty bill of approx. R1'900.00 for the outstanding months at a 10% cancellation rate. One could only begin to imagine my stress levels at the time, the last thing I needed was an added bill to my already stressful unemployed situation. The secondary option i was advised on was to "Freeze Membership" for 3 x months until i could locate someone to take over my membership or secure work. The forms were sent to me via email by the administrator, the form was completed, signed by me and returned electronically the very next day... I then had to call for another week just to confirm that the administrator recieved my email correspondence! To which they did, another week later to receive confirmation that my membership would be frozen. bear in mind my debits run off my account on or by the 01st on a monthly basis - the administrator contacted me telephonically a week before the first of July 2019 to confirm that the membership has been frozen successfully till the 01st of September 2019 a monthly debit fee will be charged of R49.00. On the 01st of July 2019 The Gym Company debited my account for the full membership fee of R299.00!!! I called immediately to have the matter rectified and to date i have had zero joy! A personal loan was taken out to cover my monthly debits for the month of end June 2019 , this Organisation is incredibly unprofessional! I have been pleading for my credit, I email back and forth and contact their offices on a daily basis to no avail. I receive empty promises / system downtime/ calls being placed on hold/ zero feedback from management/ total disregard for customer service! I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone!!! Today marks 9 x working days and my credit of R250.00 has still not been passed or recieved back into my account! With the tough economic situation we all face, my personal experience with this company goes beyond me needing every cent to survive right now, it comes down to Business ethics and customer service.
