Month to Month ****, What does Month to Month than mean if you have to give a 3 months Cancelation Notice before you can cancel

I would just like to give a warning to all all that would like to join this gym, and would want to cancel at a later stage, first of all i was informed by the agent that i am signing up for a month to month gym contract which is R199 a month, i signed up January, so yesterday on 02/05/2023 i went in the gym to cancel the month to month subscription and i told the lady with a valid reason that i have no time to come and gym any longer due to a busy schedule and work and at home, so i explained that I'm exercising at home, so i was told that my request can't be granted causes the contract says that i must put in a 3 months notice, something that i was not informed of, they are advertising that its month to month but this is such a ****, i payed a extra R100 for a tag as well and R500 joining fee, so i am really unhappy and frustrated at this matter of how the are conning people just to make fast money. if i could get help resolving this matter it would be so much apricated. But I'm also asking my fellow South Africans to be aware of this Company.
