Gym company maponya mall

I recently signed a contract to join gym company last month (August) the agent who was assisting me with the contract explained everything to me and since I was a student I was told that they are going to debit an amount of R179 per month which I agreed to and he also explained further that they are only going to debit the money on the following month meaning that you get to gym for one month which is ( August). Two weeks later I returned to the branch to inform them that I am no longer interested in gyming because I do not have enough funds to pay them since I am a student, the lady who I spoke to then told me that I can't terminate the contract unless I pay a cancellation fee of R1500 which is a ******* for me because I feel like that's a lot of money. I then sent them an email yesterday evening asking for them to freeze my account until December so I can save the required amount of money required to terminate the contract and they have not gotten back to me at all not even a phone call or email I am highly disappointed at the bad service of gym company I believe I have rights as a consumer
