Gym Company: Lockdown Debit Order Going Through

Since we are on lockdown and the president announced this way before debit orders were scheduled knowing very well that they like every other gym will be closed, Gym Company in Brackenhurst decided to still debit my monthly payment. I thought they would freeze the payment as they were aware of the lockdown that was imminent but with no luck, so 7 days prior to my debit order going off I went there to arrange my account to be frozen. Cool sorted, I get a call the next day to say debit orders were already at the bank and can't be stopped, okay cool still puzzled that they sent them. I am then told that they will freeze my account ( I'm already thinking it's too late but whatever) she lets me know that freezing my account they will charge me R45 to freeze it.

These people at Gym Company are beyond horrible,they get you to sign a contract without informing you the length of it then deny that they did not explain the contracts duration when confronted. Now with this freezing issue of charging me on top of actually taking a debit order knowing that they will be closed is ********.

One of the companies that need to be blacklisted under the companies act for shady business practices.

All the Gyms have waived their customers fee for the month because they will not be operating. I don't understand why they chose to debit knowing the circumstances.
