Gym Company demanding payment for membership freeze

So gym Company is making us pay a fee for wanting to freeze a membership during the Lockdown.

Why do we have to pay should dnt this be automatic freeze other gym have frozen their clients membership till further notice but gym Company wants to ****** us. They telling us that virgin active and other gyms are claiming from medical aids who cares, whose resposibilty was it to make sure that they have such in place. It's not fair to be paying for gym while u are not there especially if it's not by choice
