GYM COMPANY CANCELLATION FEES

I was approached by a GC consultant in floracenter in Florida while they were canvassing. The sales person informed me of a membership at R299 a month. I signed the application because they informed me that I can cancel at any time and we were both happy with the sale. I contacted the gym company on 01/08/2019 because I wanted to cancel my contract but they informed me that they have to calculate my cancellation fees and penalty fees. I was not informed about all this fees that they are talking about and I don't see the reason why I should pay penalties for something that I joined for my fitness and now I have to suffer because they feel like is not appropriate for me leave there company. I will never recommend any one to Join the GYM COMPANY as there not will to treat their clients fairly and honestly according to my opinion if they inform us about all those penalties it's when we will be able to make informed decision whether to join or not because recently what they are doing they are creating unfair consensus between them and us as a consumers, I understand they rely on our premiums but they should also inform us I WONT PAY CANCELLATION FEES.
