Cancellation of membership

Since March I was paying my monthly fee of R199.00 till September and I went in to cancel my membership and I was told to pay cancellation fee of R1100 and something of which I never received any services from them so why will I pay cancellation fee, I'm from tembisa to johannesburg End point mall. The frustrating part is only limited number of people required I will always find the gym full and another thing is I only work 2 days a week and not every week,at some point is 2 week or 3 so I only work 6 days a month and the rest I'm working from home.i Will appreciate it if they can cancel my membership without paying any cancellation fee.
