cancellation of contract and unfair blacklisting

<p>Good day</p> <p> </p> <p>i opened a Gym company membership account on 2014 July, I was told that my monthly fee would be R199 per month and membercard fee of R100, my debit order went off around august of the membership card and monthly of R199, I decided that I want to cancel the contract sincewell I was not using their facility, I was told that i order for me to cancel the membercard I will have to refer someone to take over my account, I disputed that telling them thats not how it works i cant be their sales agent , I just want to cancel my membership card, I was told that they cant do anything for me sincewell i dont want to refer someone to their Gym, I decided to reverse and stop the debit order with bank which they did, 2 years later i received a letter from the attoneys saying that I will be blacklisted if I dont pay R7769, I told them I wont pay that amount because I have never used their services or facility in that matter, why should I pay R7769.. I told them i requested the membership to be cancelled which they didnt, im now blacklisted, I cant even apply for permenant Job, I would like this matter to be sorted and resolved, Im thinking of escalating this matter to the consumer ombudsman, Kindly assist further </p> <p> </p> <p>Kind regards</p> <p> </p> <p>karabo</p>
