Cancellation Amount *******

I am very much disappointed. I filed for gym cancellation beginning of January but my query was never rep**** to until they billed me again for the month I cancelled for. They are telling me I have to pay R2000 for cancellation , this is a hefty amount I am very much disappointed. Gym company is ripping us our hard earned money, is this legal?
