Cancelation of my membership

I am so angry and disappointed. I joined gym company 2 years ago, after a few days I realized I won't be able to pay them. I went to cancel my gym membership then after 2 years then decide to call me to tell me that I owe them money and they are going to blacklist me. They haven't contacted me in the 2 years, why now after 2years. Don't ever try to join its a **** I need clarity on this matter.
