Cancel my account

I met a consultant named Peurly at Gym Company East Rand Mall on the 4th of September 2023, I decided to join on the 5th of September 2023 the next day coz I needed a gym that is close to work. I was told that I will get the month of September free and the first Debit will go off month end of October 2023. I took the R299 membership which is month to month. The First debit was supposed to be 399 because I was given the access tag which is R100.

After signing I was unable to attend the gym due to me being on leave and not having access to a car to travel to the gym. I went back to work on the 22nd of September, however I was unfortunate I was unfairly dismissed on the 26th of September and I am still fighting my unfair dismissal.

I went to the gym on the 3rd of October to cancel my membership since I lost my job and I obviously will no longer be able to afford paying for gym, I was then told that I am supposed to serve 3 months notice before cancelling or pay the full R900 for the 3 months. I explained my situation and I was given the option to either find another person to take over my account or freeze my account for 3 months while I look for another job, which I will still be required to pay R50, also during this time I will have no access to the gym so I will be paying for nothing. As much as my faith goes I want to believe that I can find another job soon but what if I don’t ?? Where am I expected to find money to continue paying after they unfreeze the account when I have no income ?? Where do I even find The R50 that I am required to pay ??

I also mentioned that I have never even attended the gym or used any of their facilities so why am I required to pay R900 to cancel and I clearly said how unfair that was, all the lady said was sorry and I was threatened to be blacklisted.
