Bad service!!!! Don't apply with them!!!!

I canceled my contract with gym company Winchester hills in the 1st week of December after being a client of theirs for just over 3 years every month I paid with no questions asked...I canceled my contract in December they told me I have a 30 day notice period so I will have to pay December and January I said ok fine now its February and I was debited again....I phoned them and explained the story and asked I would like a refund on the amount....they tell me "Oh no they will have to investigate it first and get back to me"....honestly it is ridiculous...
