Contradictory responses

My mum and I tried returning an unwanted gift at Baby Guess in Sandton City. This was in January, a week after my baby's birth. The sales consultant advised that we could exchange, but could not get a refund nor store credit. As my wife was not around to select an appropriate item for exchange, i confirmed with the sales attendant that I could return later in the year, when my wife was fully recovered, and select an item then. <br> <br> A few months later, the store now advises me that they need to consult with their head office whether an exchange is permissible. The manager advised that they would get back to me within 2 business days. It has since been 3 weeks without any correspondence.
