Insurance loopholes are amazing

I recently had to submit a claim for a broken LCD screen via 'Huawei Cares', despite this being a complimentary free service to repair a broken LCD within the first 100 days of purchase I feel that my policy was scrutinized to make sure I don't get my claim approved.

As per the T's & C's of the policy, a customer is required to register their device for the insurance to be valid within 7 days of purchase, this is understandable and easy enough to complete once a customer has their device and can register their IMEI number and so on.

However in my case, I app**** for the device on 10 January 2020 and received it on 14 January 2020. My claim was rejected due to me not registering my device within 7 days of purchase from 10 January, please advise me how I would be able to register the device without actually being in possession of it? I registered the device within 7 days from the 14th of January 2020, the exact date being the 19th of January. As I previously advised my claim was rejected for not having registered within 7 days, but how can the days between 10 - 14 January be counted is those are days which I never had the device in my possession? Was I supposed to make up random IMEI numbers to register the device?
