De*****ed by Huawei care/Guardrisk Insurance
Dear sir/madam
My name is Rosetta Mirriam Theledi. I bought Huawei matebook D15 SN: *** at Telkom Menlyn mall and went straight to Huawei store to insure it on the 09/01/2023. I was told I'll be paying R280 each month, which i did. Insurance cover increased to R302.40. Policy number is ***-001 Ref no.: VLM- ***2,1
I've attached my Huawei policy schedule which state that upon claim I'll be paying excess amount of 15% and my Huawei matebook D15 Limit of Indemnity / Sum Insured is R13 499.00
I contacted Huawei telephonically on the 13/01/2025 spoke to Given informing him I had a housebreaking on the 08/01/2025 Huawei matebook D15 was ****** and my 74inch flat screen TV. I also wanted to know what was the procedure, I was told to email proof of purchase, my I.d copy and police station affidavit to *** .Which I emailed on the 14/01/2025
Ms Thabisile Dimuna was assigned to assist me with the claim. If im not mistaken, somewhere in February I received a telephone call informing me about paying an excess fee of R5 000.00 which I explained that I don't have such amount of money and my excess fee it's said to be 15% on my policy schedule. The lady I spoke to said she will inform her manager and get back to me, she never called me back.
I'm surprised to get an email from Thabisile Dimuna on the 12/01/2025 stating that " claim has been reassessed for a cash settlement and there was an attachment from ms Thabisile Dimuna. I called ***on 13/03/2025 spoke Sinao, I wanted to get clarification of the email attachment I've received from Thabisile Dimuna because it did not make any sense whatsoever to me. I was told that because I didn't have R5 000.00 excess fee I'll be paid R4 436.28 as settlement amount and my Insured Huawei matebook D15 on their system it said Sum Insured is R5 219.15. Which I truly feel it's a ******* and an insult because my policy schedule shows Sum Insured as R13 499 with an excess fee of 15%. I'm only left with R3 060.00 to pay off my lost Huawei matebook D15 as per my contract with Telkom. What was the purpose of insuring this Huawei D15 matebook which cost me R13 499 only to be seriously insulted to consider being paid R4 436.28 or any amount of money which was said to be the "Sum Insured R5 219.15 " on the attachment from ms Thabisile Dimuna.
Upon speaking to Sinao, I told her I'm not happy and she told me to call ***which I spoke Isabella who told me to email technical *** and i Cc Thabisile Dimuna from *** which I did on the 17/03/2025. I got a reply from Ganeshan Moonsamy on the 19/03/2025 from *** with a reference no#*** informing me to allow 24/48hours to get an agent to call me as soon as possible. Ganeshan Moonsamy Cc ***, *** and *** on his rep**** email. On the 17/03/2025 I got an automatic reply email from *** with a reference no. #*** saying an agent will contact me as soon as possible. Since the 19/03/2025 nobody has contacted me from Huawei. I've send an email requesting an update to *** and *** on the 31/03/2025 and asking why did they stop debiting their insurance fee after I claimed on the 13/01/2025 and no communication was send to me for that action to be taken as theres always money in my bank. I'm still waiting to get a respond or an agent to call me even today.
I DO NOT want any money paid to me, which is definitely an insult especially the amount that is being offered to me while I've been paying insurance from February 2023 from R280, increased to R302.40 and never have I claimed before or missed any payment. I just want to be given my insured Huawei matebook D15 and charged 15% axcess fee as shown on my policy schedule, which is only fare to me.
Still awaiting for Huawei's 24/48 hrs respond/update about why after ive claimed they stopped debiting for insurance. Your assistance is highly appreciated.

After contacting you ive received an email from Ganeshan Moonsamy from *** with the following information on it. On the same day the 08/04/2025 I've rep**** back to Ganeshan Moonsamy from *** and Cc ***, *** and *** as he does on all his responsive emails. I've asked and still asking them to replace my matebook d15 laptop that I've insured with them and not to offer me any settlement amount whatsoever. Two times the below respond is from Ganeshan Moonsamy and the Huawei team. I've insured and paid for that laptop and now I'm claiming and my claim was approved, what is it that is making Huawei not to want to replace my laptop? I have No idea. It's not about the value of the device depreciating, it's about processin my claim and giving me my insured Huawei matebook D15 as the policy schedule. The same way they've calculated the device value below on their respons email it should be app****.
Why were they asking me to pay R 5 0000 excess fee all this time if the depreciation value is now R5 219.15. Was I donating the insurance money all this because it sounds like it. That's when they started offering to give me a settlement amount of R4 436.28 because I said I won't be paying any excess fee of R5 000.00. How does Ganesha Moonsamy and Huawei team close off the ticket when I'm not being assisted yet?
Good day Ms Theledi,
- The value of your device depreciates over time therefore the current market value which is generated by the system is R 5 219.15.
- The excess payable which was 15% amounts to R 782.87c
- The net claim value which is R5 219.15c minus R 782.87C = R 4 436.28

Ganeshan Moonsamy truelly hope Huawei claim department knows what their saying and doing because I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. Which I don't like and I won't tolerate. 1st of all the premium changing I've never complained about, I don't see why you had to state that on your respond. You and your team wanted to pay me a settlement of R4 436.28 because you said the value of my laptop has depreciated an now is amounting to R5 219.15. " below is your previous respond and quoted"
- The value of your device depreciates over time therefore the current market value which is generated by the system is R 5 219.15
- The excess payable which was 15% amounts to R 782.87.
- The net claim value which is R5 219.15c minus R 782.87 = R 4 436.28

I think there's something wrong with your company's system and the current market value when it comes to this laptop being replaced to me. The excess fee also changes from ( below, it's your previous versus current respond)
All this changes because I said I need a replacement laptop not settlement amount which you and your company were willing and ready to rip me off by giving me R4 436.28 as settlement amount. Now the story changes because you need to replace my laptop not give me settlement amount. (Below, your current respond) I now need to pay R6 279.70. On the 25 February 2025 you wanted me to pay R5 000 excess fee, which i declined. What is going on at Huawei? Why was I paying for insurance all this time?
The difference of your previous settlement offer was R4 436.28 with an excess fee of R782.87 and now is R4 779.85 with an excess fee of R1 499.85. I'm liable to pay R6 279. 70 in order to receive a replacement laptop. Which on the 25 February 2025 I was told to pay excess fee of R5 000.00. I'm now liable to pay R6 279.70 to receive a replacement D15 matebook Core I3 laptop.
Ive Cc claims ***.z , *** and *** department to let them re-establish their offer to me. They must use their first method they've use when they were willing and eager to pay me settlement of R4 436.28. MEANING their 1st respond was the value depreciated from R13 499 which is on my policy schedule to R5 219.15 according to generated value Huawei system. On their generated system value being R5 219.15 from their 1st respond back to me. They must add their rule. MEANIN they must subtract 15% from (R 5 219.15 generated by Huawei system) which was said to be R4 436.28 from their 1st system's calculations and respond back to me. The co-payment of the balance "quoted below " must be app**** on R4 436.28 and you can charge me the excess fee from that and they replace my D15 matebook Core I3 laptop.

Im surprise to have received the below reply from Thabisile Dimuna. How can my claim lapse when ive rep**** back to Thabisile Dimuna and Cc: ***, *** and *** on 17 March 2025. I said im not interested in any settlement amount, all i want is a replacement of my insured D15 matebook laptop. I've also asked them why did they stop debiting for insurance after I've claimed and I've never got any respond to my question even today. Or all along they knew they were not going to replace my insured Huawe D15 matebook laptop hence the settlement offered
