Completely mislead

I am so dissapointed in Groupon's after sales services! I bought a voucher from Groupon and notified them of my disgust in the service I recieved from the merchant. I emailed them my complaint on 15/09 with no response as yet.

Here follows my email to one of their customer support members with a description of the experience we had:

Dear Astrid

Thanks for your response however I am not satisfied with your answer. Shifting the blame on the merchant is not acceptable. I bought the voucher from Groupon and expect Groupon to refund me in total, you can take it up with the merchant.

We were completely mislead, this place is terrible and does not qualify to call themselves a “beauty salon” – there is nothing beautiful about this place. If I wanted hair extensions or dreadlocks done this might be the place to go but for any beauty therapy session not so much. When we got there the receptionist informed us that the the****** is on her way as they don’t employ them full time and they only come in for clients. When I wanted to visit the bathroom, I was lead down a ***** alley way behind the “salon” where I had to go to the men’s toilet as the women’s toilet key was not working. The receptionist waited outside for me to try and prevent a possible gentleman walking in on me.

Here follows a brief description of our treatments:

Our appointment had to be split because they don’t have enough the****** to have the appointments done together. Nevertheless we accepted that and waited for each other. We had to however sit in the same room while our treatments commended, one lying half naked on the bed with the other in the same room on a chair waiting for their turn. The massage was done on a bed that made me seasick. With every stroke the bed moved up and down. We laid on soapy towels in a little room where all the wires of the lighting are visible(we have photos if you want to see them) and listening to a cd that scratched and stopped in the middle of the song to be replaced by my “the******’s” heavy breathing – NOT a relaxing experience at all.

The massage was followed by a “pedicure” OH MY GOODNESS! WHAT A MESS! No filing, no painting of toenails, nothing. My feet were basically wrapped in GladWrap (I kid you not, GladWrap straight off the roll). The one foot was completely wrapped with my toes bending downwards and the other foot’s toes where not wrapped at all. If I wanted my feet to be wrapped in plastic I would have done it at home and not pay for a so called “pedicure”. My friend did not even want this ridiculousness done to her feet and declined having a pedicure. A fun-filled girls day out for fulltime moms who don’t ever do something to treat themselves was an utter disappointment.

This place, like many other on Groupon, is a struggling business who takes your customers’ money to make a quick last buck before they close down. Therefore I would not buy any voucher from Groupon again as this is not the first time this happened. I have previously complained about a manicure (my 2 year old could do a better job) and a voucher that I bought to eat at Dros (which closed down when I wanted to redeem the voucher). On both occasions you were so kind as to refund my money and this time I would want the same please, but not as a credit in Groupon but my actual money back as I no longer wish to do business with Groupon.

I followed up on this email stating that I would like to avoid having to go this route by complaining on HelloPeter, but unfortunately they are now not leaving me with any other option.

I really hope to hear from Groupon as soon as possible.

Carla Kriel
