Heads Up
Unfortunately we had my Parents Farewell planned for 17 guests with a picnic/table setup. My Mom fell ill the morning of the farewell in which we attempted to notify Jo, the events coordinator via messages, emails, and phones calls just after 8am. We only heard from her nearing 10am. We then asked to simply reschedule the farewell and offered to cover the costs that they had incurred for the day so they don’t make a loss. However, the responses received showed a lack of understanding or compassion. We were simply told that they cannot cancel on the day as they would incur a loss but we had offered to cover their costs and simply asked whether we can put the rest of the funds towards our new date. However, those suggestions were rebuffed and we simply received procedural responses saying they cannot help. We understand the terms and conditions as we had made payment, however 48 hours notice for health matters is not reasonable and when experienced, the lack of discretion, willingness to help or solution finding is sad to see. We simply asked to reschedule with penalties but we’re blue ticked on WhatsApp and still have not received any of our calls returned. That was sad to see as there was a middle ground that could have been reached where all parties still walk away benefitting out of the difficult circumstances at hand. Unfortunately this has left a bad impression on us and is a heads up for all others looking to book any form of event with The Ground.
