Travel with Greyhound if you want some frustration in life

Greyhound is a big disappointment and I will never travel with it again. I travelled from Durban to Mthatha with Greyhound. The seat number that I got on my ticket didn't exist on the bus and another passenger also got the same problem. We both got our ticket from the Greyhound counter at bus station. Then the bus broke down in the middle of nowhere for 3 hours. To be precise, the bus didn't broke down but the left mirror of the bus fell off and for our safety they had to stop the bus, which I appreciate their concern for our safety and that 3 hours of delay was actually not too bad. When we finally made our way to Mthatha, they were supposed to stop at the bus station and then stop at Shell, where I would catch my shuttle that had been waiting for me for hours with more than 10 passengers on it. When we were stopping at the bus station, I asked the bus attendant if we were gonna stop at Shell and he said that would be our next stop. So I sat and waited for 10 mins, and then the bus attendant came to me saying that they weren't going to Shell anymore as the road to Shell was under construction and no bus could get in there (which then I found was totally nonsense, no road near Shell was under construction, other buses got into Shell, even that very Greyhound bus that I was on went past Shell after I was forced to get off the bus).

I then asked the bus attendant if they were changing me to another bus which could get into Shell. No. Or maybe drop me somewhere near Shell (actually to continue their journey, they must pass by Shell) so that I can walk there? No. So can you at least let me know where I can get a taxi or minivan to get to Shell? I don't know any. So are you dropping me here? Yes. He even said the option of getting off at Shell has been taken off from their system the night before but I just saw it the night before and the fact was, when I finally got to Shell by myself, those people who have been waiting for me for hours told me there was a Greyhound bus at Shell dropping someone and my Greyhound bus just went past Shell 10 minutes before I arrived. The attitude of the staff was so bad, indifferent and they were just so unhelpful and not even trying. I just got a solid 'NO' 'I don't know' and 'That's not my problem'. Finally a staff at the bus station said she would help me get a taxi but then just rudely asked me to wait at the station and dealt with other passengers at the station with a grumpy face. Then I knew I could never rely on her to get a taxi.

My journey in South Africa has been nothing but amazing, until Greyhound marked the first and only unpleasant experience of my trip. And Greyhound is not even the cheap bus; it is in fact the most expensive bus. But it is just frustrating and unpleasant.
