Not so happy customer
I have used Greyhound / Citiliner Coach Lines for 10 years now regularly. The most recent trip I took was from Ladysmith, KZN to Pietermaritzburg, KZN (***) service number (GCBD1200) and ticket number (TDHSVYOW). Unfortunately, the service standards have plummeted over the years resulting in my rating of the coach lines. One star is solely for the professional and friendly manner of one the drivers, Mr. Philip- truly an amazing host. The other star is for the punctuality of the bus which as any regular Greyhound customer would know is not always a guarantee. However, overall I would give the coach line 1/5 stars and this purely because of the doing away with cabin attendants. Cabin attendants not only welcomed passengers but also checked them in, kept the cabin neat and tidy, offered refreshments and announced destination stops. Without cabin attendants, all this has been thrown out too- severely crippling the service the coach line had been reputed for. On this particular trip, the seat that I was to occupy was filthy. Empty soft drink bottles scattered around, crumbs everywhere and dirty cup holders. I had to hold my cup for the entire duration of my trip, for fear of placing it in the disgusting cup holder provided. I wish I could say ticket prices directly reflected the "new" service offered by the coach lines but this is not the case. Ticket prices are at an all-time high yet the service is poor. Just to give some context, my one-way trip of +/- 2 hours amounted to R555.00. Yes, I understand a whole lot goes into setting ticket prices but at least let the consumer get what they paid for.
