No arrangement to board another bus

I bought a Greyhound bus ticket from Johannesburg to Northen Cape,Noupoort. Unfortunately I got delayed an missed the bus,went to the offices to see what can be done,maybe get on another bus even if it leaves the following day and was told that my R600 will go down the drain as my ticket will be null and void,some arrangement should be made for passengers who miss their bus even when you miss a plane you are able to board another one without having to buy another ticket.
