NEGATIVE REVIEW: GREYHOUND BUS SERVICES
We travelled on the Greyhound Dreamliner from Midrand to Prins Albert Road Station on 1 October 2019. We are very upset and dissappointed in Greyhound on this particular trip! The reasons being as follows:
1. We booked our tickets online and paid with my Capitec Debit Card. Our Reference / Ticket Number is: SJKC1830 B5R8QNN5 SEATS: 12C & 12D
My Reference that I received from your office, is: B5R8QNN5 and theirAgent was LEANDA.
2. We were informed to be at the Midrand Stop at least 30 minutes before 16:35 when the bus was suppose to arrive. We waited for the bus from 16:00 until after 17:00. On arrival the Bus Driver did not have stickers for our luggage and nor did the Greyhound sub-office at Midrand.
3. This driver then informed us that we will get stickers for our luggage on arrival at Rotunda. When we stopped at Rotunda, we were directed to a Greyhound Bus. I mentioned that we needed stickers for our luggage but the Greyhound person loaded our luggage into the trailor. I went to this Greyhound Driver and demanded stickers for our luggage. The Greyhound person was then forced to use these stickers on our luggage, he marked it and put the luggage back into the trailer.
4. Another Passenger mentioned that he was going to East Londen, and I queried our seats. We then found out that we were shown to the wrong bus!!! We got off the bus and our luggage was taken out of the trailer. We were then directed to another Greyhound bus, who was the correct bus and our luggage were loaded in the correct bus.
5. We experienced a very difficult trip and had some problems at Bloemhof. My legs and ankles became swollen as we travelled for more than 6 hours without having a stop to let the passengers get out to move their legs around a bit for blood circulation! The Drivers seemed a bit unfriendly and irretable when giving them our requests to turn down the heater and to stop a bit for passengers to move around for better blood circulation. They also did not accept our offer to help with the luggage!
6. On arrival at Prins Albert Road Station, we found that one of our bags were missing! This bag was packed with frozen meat and was marked with a sticker. We collected the rest of our bags and travelled home! When unpacking our suitcases, we found that the last black bag was filled with men's clothes instead of my clothing, gifts, make-up and hairdryers.
I contacted Greyhound in JHB mmediately to report and discuss my problems! They informed me to send my complaint and claim for loss of property, in writing.
7. Our Claim for Loss of Property are as follows:
i) 1 x Bag of Frozen Meat worth R800 ii) Various His and Her Clothing worth R600 iii) 1 x Boutique Outfit for "Renewal of our Wedding Vows", specially made for the occassion, price R2000 iv) Various Gifts for my Granchildren who are having their birthday party on 5 October 2019, worth R500 v) 1 x Hairdryer worth R350 vi) 1 x Electric Curling Brush worth R450 vii) Various jewellery and cosmetics worth R1000
The above are the contents of the suitcases, and should they find the bags, we'll be happy if Greyhound return these bags. Some of the items are not replaceable, inheritance from our Dad!!!
I personally feel that Greyhound has always had the best service in its field, but since last year September / October something has gone wrong and that Greyhound is not as devoted as they use to be!!! Through negligence of the staff and not adhering to Greyhound's rules and regulations, we have lost a lot of belongings!! We are disabled and pensioners and do not have the finances to replace our belongings.
We trust that you will give our Complaint and Claim, your serious Attention! This is important for us. We further hope you can track down the owner of the bag I have in my possession. The two bags look exactly the same!! We are sure it is a Passenger who went to East Londen.
