horror luggage loss
On the 15th of March had to travel to Polokwane for a friends wedding and had used the services of Greyhound buses from Pretoria. upon check in at their Bosman ticket office i had requested the lady giving my ticket to carry my luggage in with me since I had figured it's not a huge bag even tho it is one of those medium trolley bags, and she insisted i have to take it to the luggage compartment of which i did. Bags were taken into one of those huge greyhound trailers and i had make sure i even see where the porter is putting it. the luggage was separated according to the stops and Polokwane together with Bela-bela, and Mokopane were in the trailer. the bus has 3 stops in polokwane and i was getting off the 2nd one. the bus made a stop on it's 1st stop then 2nd stop, getting off had to go collect my luggage. As i stood there waiting for the driver to get my ticket so he can check the luggage sticker i started looking around the trailer and i cannot see my bag but do continue giving the ticket to the driver he looks and asks even color of my bag of which i give to him but my bag was really not there!!! had to drive to the last stop where everyone else took their bags then i was still standing there with shock and then another young lady was left with me still holding her ticket to get her bag, and she also got no bag!! Greyhound customer services treated me with utmost ignorance upon receiving call of lost bags. we were promised to be contacted and that they would trace our bags. was left with only what i was wearing, every single thing in my bag one carries when you attending a wedding you were planning for months to go to was gone just like that!!, from my new dresses, shoes, perfume, makeup, underwear, sleepwear, toiletry... :_( 11 days later, greyhound has shown no care of the trauma we had. all they did was to say they are looking into it, after being the one making means to contact them they sent via email their terms&conditions saying they are only liable to pay to a maximum of R1000.. i say that is total Bull**** S since they do not even have the decency to inform us how our bags were lost.. i have spoken to so many people there and the rudeness they depict of not responding back to emails says it all. Greyhound as a carrier really does not give a damn about our luggage as they know they are only liable to pay back peanuts when they lose them. i personally will not be accepting the R1000 since that is only the price of the bag, what about what i lost that was inside? who says they are supposed to force their rules onto us then turn back and say it is with our own risk? why have luggage compartments when you clearly can let people carry and be responsible of their own luggage then? they are clearly not looking into the matter at all otherwise they would have responded to phone calls i made, letters i sent. i used to trust in my safety using their services, but clearly a wake up call that the only thing that matters was having my services and whatever happens they couldn't give a damn. hopefully no one has to suffer the same fate, for heaven's sake it's a bus not a damn huge plane where things might be lost without a trace...
