DON'T EVER BOOK A GREYHOUND BUS!!!!

Me and my 3 daughters were booked with the Dreamliner Greyhound bus which was supposed to be a premium ticket as advertised on their website. Our experience was one of the worst experiences we have ever had.

As everyone knows, Park Station is extremely dirty and dangerous and that is why we booked our tickets from Midrand Caltex garage. Our bus was supposed to reach us at 09:50 so we decided to be there at least 2 hours before the time. When we booked in the guy from Greyhound that worked there advised us that we might have to catch the “shuttle” to Park Station as the bus does not have enough space to go through the garage to fetch the passengers. This made no sense, because we saw many Intercape double decker buses passing through the pickup point. He then informed us that our bus is in the workshop as we speak and therefore, we will have to wait for the shuttle to take us.

We then waited for the shuttle for 40 minutes. The shuttle was disgusting. It smelt like urine and there was vomit on the seats. The shuttle dropped us off at Park Station in the middle island and told us to wait there for our bus.

No one had any information regarding our bus. They just kept saying we should wait it is on the way. Meantime we were standing there and was too afraid to go anywhere incase our bus arrives and leaves us there. We waited for 3 and a half hours for our bus to arrive. When we eventually boarded the bus, and we were on route we discovered that the left side of the bus’s charging points were not working. The air-conditioning was also not working. I now know what hell feels like because it was hot as hell.

We then struggled to open the small little windows for some ventilation to go through the bus. As the time went by, it started to rain, and we had to close all the windows. The roof of the bus started to leak and was dripping through the charging points on the left side of the bus. Again, it felt like hell.

I have an app on my phone that shows me how fast we are driving, and the bus driver drove 122km per hour. This is so irresponsible. He had over 60 passengers on the bus and drove at that speed in the rain.

We came to a stop about 50km before Laingsburg at about 04:00am Saturday morning. Our phones were flat, and the bus was stuffy and hot again. We were then told that the bus had broken down and we all received sms’s that the bus has some technical difficulties. The bus driver then said we must wait for a mechanic to come and fix it.

There were a couple of passengers that tried to fix the fault but couldn’t. 2 Other busses then stopped, 1 had space for about 10 passengers and the other one had space for 35. We were told that we could change buses if we wished to. And me and my girls took our baggage and moved to the Eldo bus en route to CT.

Since the trip we haven’t heard from Greyhound and there were no apologies, nor any compensation received from anyone there.
