Disgusting Service useless seat numbers

Hi, please explain why do we get seat numbers when booking Citi liner when we can not use our allocated seats.....I am travelling with 2 children 4 and 9 year olds and we are all seating far apart from each way too far all 3 of us how I am expected to monitor my kids?
