A dying business

I would like to inform you of my terrible bus experience that I had with The GreyHound bus. When I am not flying, the GreyHound has always been my go to bus over the years when travelling around South Africa.

Last week was unfortunately the last time I will ever travel on a bus again. I departed from Cape Town to Bloemforntein on the 8th of December and arrived on the 9th. On the time of departure, I travelled with the Eldo Coaches bus before jumping onto the Greyhound bus in Belleville. The Eldo bus had a foul smell, oily armrests, ****roaches walking on my arm and hot air blowing through the aircon? the Greyhound bus I travelled to Bloemforntein had the same aspects as the Eldo coaches bus I just mentioned.

I departed from Bloemforntein on the 19th of December, It was one of the worst experiences I ever had on a bus. I booked for the GreyHound Premium Streamliner and the bus I travelled with was a normal GreyHound bus. We departed an hour late than the actual time stated on the ticket (18:20). I had to carry my big bag (with clothes, shoes,etc) to my seat because there was no trailer attached to the bus. That put us at a massive risk because if we had to be in an accident, we would have all been trapped by our own bags. The drive from Bloemforntein to Colesburg was very shaky and the bus was rattling. When the driver decided to stop at the weighbridge in Beaufort Wes for the logistics, it turned out that the bus was overloaded and heavy. The driver informed us that we will have to wait two hours for another Eldo coaches bus to come and balance out the bus so that we can make the correct weight to drive safely. We then had to wait another 2 hours due to a massive accident on the N1 road (Not the Greyhounds fault but it could have been avoided if we departed earlier or if we were the correct weight to drive on the road). As we approached Cape Town the bus kept stalling at the traffic lights. The bus driver would have to get out and hit the engine to start the bus again. Lastly, we were dropped off before 1st Old Marine drive Road in the middle of traffic.

I just want to emphasize on how unsafe and uncomfortable I felt on the bus trips with The Greyhound. I made my final decision which is to never travel on any of your bus coaches again. I want to make it clear that a ticket refund is the only option for me. I do not want a free ticket for the next bus trip because I do not plan on ever travelling with another bus again. I am not afraid to take this to travel safety awareness, the newspapers or social media. This is not a threat, it is a warning because I am not taking this lightly. Please get back to me as soon as possible and inform me about the evidence needed to investigate this matter.
