No compensation for damaged shoes.
In August I traveled to England I returned with light brown suede Puma Creepers which cost £85 which is equivalent to about R1530, and due to the economy it would be over R2000 to buy in South Africa. In addition these shoes are difficult to find in South Africa and aren’t available online on South African shops. We sent them in to be cleaned and when collecting the shoes we saw the colouring had changed and the suede had started to crack and had become corse. The golden Puma label on the shoe had come off colour, they must of scrubbed very hard on the shoes. We asked numerous times how the shoes had been cleaned, they said they would get back to us however they never did. The assistant said we must leave the shoes with her and she’ll find out how it was cleaned. This was in September. We return 3 weeks later to enquire and no one had a response for us. We also phoned and their response was that they’ll get back to us which needless to say they never did. In between the phoning we also went to the shop numerous time to ask about the shoes and every time their response was “leave it with us, we’ll get back to you.” We started losing our patience and eventually asked for compensation. The only compensation we got was R150 to buy new laces to match the now shaki (**** & khaki) colour of the shoes. We got the shoes back today, 2 month after handing them in for the first time to be cleaned. At least they told us how they were cleaned; it changed from being brushed to being cleaned with a suede shampoo. The assistant saw nothing wrong with the shoes however, when paying such a large amount for shoes you wish for the product to stay similar. They did not acknowledge or want to take responsibility for their messed up.
