Very disappointing experience
My cousin booked on Booking.com from the UK. She does not know the area. There were several glaring mistakes on the Booking.com site (some of which have now been edited!) I have a couple of screenshots take today. Firstly, the location pin shows the property to be in the center of Port Alfred, on the R72 where it makes a right turn (coming from PE) towards the hospital. That property is, in fact, a cash and carry business! It went downhill from there.
We eventually tracked the place down 6 or 7 km out of town on the East London road. We couldn't get through the gate. I'm not sure when last the office has ever been used on the property. It was locked and the door and windows covered in cobwebs and dust. Nobody was to be found to assist us. Several WA messages were required to get the gate opened.
We eventually found the "Villa". Unlike the photos on Booking.com there was no swimming pool in sight - it is part of the caravan park! and not even visible from the accommodation. Trying to contact Debbie was fruitless. We eventually just walked into the chalet. There were dust covers on the beds - like we weren't even expected!
Our biggest issue, aside from the property not being where it was advertised included inter alia not feeling safe - there were no burglar bars, or visible security. Not being able to contact the owner to try and resolve the problems was a big red flag and we left and had to find alternate accommodation.
