Green Cross Standards have Dropped

So I have always worn Green Cross footwear, expensive, but are really good for your feet. They last for years and all my shoes are Green Cross.

Last year I bought a pair in May and after wearing them for about 4 months the velcro started to loosen and not hold the strap properly anymore. The stitching started to come out on the side and while I was overseas I noticed a piece of leather had came undone where it is attaches to the sole.

I got back from overseas in May and called customer care. They said that I must take the shoes to the shop so that they can send them in for assessing.

The answer came back that I had had them for a year so they can't do anything about them.

Well, I paid R1000 for the shoes, not a cheap pair. I would think that Green Cross would see that it is a manufacturing fault and not accept that after 6 months the leather started to pull away, clearly a manufacturing problem and certainly not wear and tear. Being away in the uk for a couple of months I was only able to get them back to the shop in the beginning of May. Even though it is a year since I bought the shoes and didn't walk very much in them, it is clearly a manufacture fault.

I always thought that Green Cross had a very high standard but it seems not so anymore.

I will not be buying from Green Cross anymore as I see that the shoes are not up to the standard they used to be and Green Cross don't seem to care anymore.

Very disappointing.
