Unprofessional and Dishonest Refusal of a Legitimate Request for a Deposit Refund

After this Bloemfontein guest house was recommended by a friend, I booked for my daughter and myself for the duration of the Growthpoint Junior Nationals and the Growthpoint Free State Super 8 Tennis Tournaments. These tournaments were to be held from the middle of March 2020. I paid the requested 50% deposit (R3000) without question. Both tournaments were cancelled due to the Corona Virus pandemic. I asked for a refund and was refused. Alida (presumably the owner) told me that she would keep my money in her bank account (earning interest for her) until the tournaments were rescheduled. I said that I would prefer to earn interest on my money in my bank account. She again refused and directed me to their "No Refunds" policy - which I had never seen and was unaware of. For a week now, my messages requesting my money be retured to me have been ignored. A very poor state of affairs! Professional companies with an understanding of the damage bad publicity can do to their business have refunded me much more money for reasons far less serious than a forced cancellation due to a global ****er viral pandemic! I will certainly never stay at this establishment when in Bloemfontein. And I will certainly tell everyone I know of my experience with the Grazia Guest House
