Graskop Gorge Lift Company Entry ****

Be warned, if visibility is poor or you only intend on going to the restaurants you will be charged an entrance/exit fee [R60]. You will be granted entrance only to be told that you have to pay to exit. You won't even be allowed to leave if you step through the gate and immediately change your mind. This backward payment system is a ***** tactic used to trap unsuspecting visitors. The staff also won't tell you before you enter that visibility is poor or that weather conditions are not conducive to doing activities so as to trick you into entering and paying the fee to exit. A solution would be to pay before entering but then the staff would have to advise you of conditions before entering and they don't want to do that because you might not enter at all! BE SURE TO ASK ABOUT/CONFIRM CONDITIONS BEFORE ENTERING. We intended on doing the activities [swing/zipline/lift/forest walk] but couldn't, thanks to extremely poor visibility and rain. We opted out of going back the next day as we felt deceived into paying entrance just to eat at the restaurant. That said, we ate at the restaurant and the food and service were good. The place seems well appointed and looks great in videos. I'm sure it's an amazing experience in the right conditions but we won't be back regardless. I asked to talk with the manager[Charnay] regarding the trickery of having to pay just for access to the restaurant and she seemed totally indifferent. This place is conducted like the ****mer hawkers you encounter in the area. I managed to save two groups of visitors by advising them of the poor weather conditions and payment **** before they got through the entrance. They were grateful and turned away without hesitation.
