Bad treatment.....poor service!

On a short holiday visit to Howick with some friends, we were recommended to try the tea and scones at the Bistro at Granny Mouse’s. To avoid disappointment we called in the morning around 10am to find out if they were serving scones that day, which they confirmed that they were. We arrived at around 12h30, and were guided to a table In the Bistro. The lady came to take our order, and funnily enough was the same lady we had spoken to earlier to enquire if they had scones. We again confirmed they had the scones and placed an order with her. my wife also ordered a toasted sandwich, but was informed that she could have a plain sandwich, as there were no toasted sandwiches for some reason. Strike 1...... After a short while another lady came and informed us there were no scones that day. Strike 2...... I was lived and requested to speak with the manager, and I was informed it was she who had taken our order in the first place. They offered us free coffee to compensate, but we had come all that way for the scones. We refused the coffee and left. They seemed disinterested when I was complaining and were quite offish...... We have absolutely no interest in ever visiting this establishment again, and would advise anyone considering going there that it’s not worth the effort
