Warning! Do not use this company!

I used GMD a couple of times now over the past 10 years and spent a total of about R100 000 for stone in my previous house (kitchen & bathrooms) and now in my new house (kitchen and laundry). The worst treatment ever and you would expect a little more for a loyal customer that has spent so much money with the company.

With my kitchen installation In June 2018 (approx R70k) the 3.4m island was installed with two bad scratches on. I asked the installation team if they could polish it out but I was told that it cannot be done as the polish would leave marks on the surface. I didn’t pursue it further at the time as I was busy with a major renovation and I had a lot more pressing issues to deal with and because I knew that I was going to use them for my laundry again later on and would address it then.

I had my laundry done two weeks ago. First a terrible team was sent out for installation. Probably because it was not a big enough job. (Only 1 counter in the laundry) I always leave the installation til the following day (just to ensure that I don’t move anything). The next day when I tried to open the cupboard door it was stuck. I eventually got the door open and beige glue was stuck to my burgundy mahogany wrap doors. They glued my wrap doors to the top. The worst was that when I informed the owners and sent a photo they treated me like I’m totally clueless and tells me that it is just silicone and that I can wipe it away with a cloth.

It is not rocket science to know the difference between glue (like epoxy) and silicone! Also silicone would not be used under a counter...?

After numerous requests about the scratches on my kitchen island top they just kept on saying that they would forward my request to Eezi Quartz as it comes with a guarantee and that they do not deal with it. After two weeks I didn’t get any response from Eezi Quartz so I submitted my own enquirer directly to them. The rep visited me (who confirmed the glue on the wrap door in my laundry) and said that there is nothing he can do about the scratches. He gave the feedback to GMD and said that I had to sort it out with them. Needless to say I didn’t hear a word fro GMD! So they are obviously not willing to own and fix their mistakes. 2 mistakes they just left me to live with... but they received full payment...??

I was planning to use them for my main bathroom for a 1.8 meter wrap around my vanity, but I won’t use them ever again even if they were the last stone installer on the planet!

Anyone interested in getting granite or stone installed, I can only give advise from personal experience... Don’t use them at all cost! For the high prices they charge you can get a lot better service at other installation companies. Also do not use them unless you are willing to be treated like you are an idiot!
