Worst High Tea Ever

I was shocked to discover that SA Wines listed The Grande Roche Hotel in their The most fabulous high teas in the Cape Winelands article as did Inside Guide in their Nov 2023 article The 10 Best High Teas in Cape Town + The Winelands, when clearly they had not done their research properly or the restaurant pulled out all the stops for them alone. In 2021 we booked a high there and it was the worst high tea I'd even had. We were only 2 people in our party and there was only one other larger party in the restaurant at the time and they messed up our platter tower. This wouldn't have been such an issue if it wasn't that I have special dietary requirements, which they said they couldn't rectify as they hadn't made sufficient pastries to correct the order and we ended up paying for a high tea menu that wasn't as promised. This is unacceptable at such a respected hotel restaurant and at the cost they charge for their High Tea, you expect perfection every single time. I've since written to these media sites to have The Grande Roche Hotel removed from their High Tea article listing's and will continue to do so for every news article that lists them in their top rankings.
