Grand White Dinner Reneges on offer of Refund

I booked and paid for a table of 10 for R3400 for the Grand White Dinner in Cape Town on Saturday 21 Feb 2015. On Tuesday 17th February I contacted the organisers in connection with the possibility of a cancellation / refund, as all but one of my party had pulled out at the last minute. Stephen assured me I could get a refund, and I emailed him my ticket and banking details. It is now nearly 5 weeks later, the event has been and gone (about which I received notification they were fully booked and running a waiting list) and, in spite of numerous telephonic and email requests for my refund, I have heard nothing from them. Had Stephen said to me upfront that it was too close to the event, I would have gone to other lengths such as Gumtree or advertising on the FB White Dinner Page to sell my table, failing which I would have GIVEN it to my staff. But to be told they would refund me my ticket and then do NOTHING is unacceptable !!!
