MERCEDEZ BENZ SOUTH AFRICA/GRAND CENTRAL MOTORS INCOMPETENCE AND ABUSE
I write to give an account of what transpired between Mercedes Benz South Africa and Grand Central Motors Midrand and Myself regarding the repair and fixing of my Mercedes Benz C200 Avantgard 2014 year model (Reg no: DH 55 SD GP) car that is currently under the custody of Grand Central Motors Midrand.
My car was booked in for normal 25,000km oil change service sometimes in June/July 2018; and during the routine check, the service advisor reported that my clutch system required to be replaced due to hard of the clutch pedal. I did told the service advisor that i never observed that the clutch pedal is hard because that was how bought the car and i assumed that was how Mercedes Benz clutch use to be.
Since my car is still under Motor plan policy agreement, authorization was sought for approval from Mercedes Benz South Africa and the clutch system was replaced by Grand Central Motors Midrand.
During the first week of December, I observed that my car was not driving smoothly above the speed level of 100km/hr. The car was booked in for checks and fixing on the 12th December 2018 at Grand Central Motors Midrand.
On the 19th December, I got a call from service advisor at Grand Central Motors Midrand that the car will not be fixed because my Motor plan policy agreement company (Mercedes Benz South Africa) could not approve the repair work. According to Grand Central Motors Midrand, the reason for rejection of approval was because the cause of the problem of my car is the clutch system and that the same clutch was replaced about 6 month ago.
Furthermore, Grand Central Motors Midrand claimed that the reason for the damage of the clutch system is due to driving style and/or driving conditions of the driver
The above statement was made without necessarily considering the warranty on previously work performed on the clutch system in less than 1, year ago and the manufacturer defect on replacement parts to mention but few.
The case has then been reported to Mercedes South Africa through which the Motor plan policy agreement was signed with and a case reference number has been issued.
I feel ****** and cheated of my right to claim for the repair of my car because am a black foreigner. In addition, I have suffered both financial and emotional loss due to lack of access to my car as I could not go about my business since on the 12th December till today.
My question for Grand Central Motors and Mercedes Benz South Africa are as follows: 1. How many month or year warranty do you give a client that comes for a repair of clutch 2. How can you proof to me that is my way of driving that damage the clutch since i have been driving the car since 2015 and i never report any clutch damage until when you offer to fix my clutch because of the hard pedal that you discovered. 3. Why you did not offer me a courtesy car since my car is still under motor plan.
Please i need a help from every reader of this review and also advise anyone that aspire to buy Mercedes Benz in future to take note and aware of this Dealer and Manufacturer customer abuse of right and claims.
Thank you all
