Infringement of Privacy

I drove to Grand Central motors to inquire about the price of a Jeep Rubicon.<br> <br> As I attempted to exit the park security demanded that I hand them my drivers license as they wanted to scan it. <br> I have a thorough understanding of identity theft and cyber crime and as a result I informed the guard that he could not scan my ID but that he could have visibility to identify me.<br> <br> The security company then refused to allow me to exit unless I allowed them to scan my drivers license.<br> <br> I informed them that they were now party to holding me against my will and that there would be consequences if they did not let me leave immediately or accuse me of an offense.<br> <br> After 25 minutes of waiting for the dealer principle to authorise my release I confronted him....he mumbled something about acting within the scope provided by the Protection of Privacy and Information act (POPI)...which I confirmed was garbage !<br> <br> The law provides for a private company to refuse entry should one willingly choose to withold your information....but not to refuse exit and demand electronic replication of identity information as a condition for my release - people refer to that as ******ion and yes I am ****ed off !<br>
