Residentail Waterproofing Roof Repairs

During *** I contracted G.R. Waterproofing (Mr Gavin Benecke) to attend to leak(s) on the roof of my house. On multiple occassions I had to call him to attend to the same leak(s) in the roof above my familyroom. In fact during 2015 & 2016 they attempted to do the necessary repairs on four occassions without success. The last time I had to get my Attorney to send a letter of demand for him to get his people on site and attempt to stop the water leaks. It got progressively worse and last year (2021), I contracted another company to do the waterproofing. They managed to do it RIGHT THE FIRST TIME ! The workmanship of G.R. Waterproofing was shown to me as they removed all the material from the roof to do the repairs. This included the following : 1. Incorrect Underlay used for a roof pitch of 11 degrees !!! 2. Pieces of Underlay were used in certain areas which resulted water ingress 3. The Underlay was folded in certain places thus not allowing the water to drain away, but rather to flow sideways causing further leaks. Absolute shabby worksmanship ! 4. There were approximately 15 places where the roof leaked - nails nailed in thru the underlay, underlay tight under batons leaving no space for water to flow away, loose batons etc.

I am happy to report that the roof is now leak free, however, it cost me a further R9 369 to eliminate the problem. I have been told that this is not the first time G.R. Waterproofing have not been able to repair waterleaks. They advertise themselves as specialists in waterproofing ! I sent Mr Gavin Benecke an e-mail summarising all the issues w.r.t. this, however, he has chosen not to respond to my allegations.
