*********** and bad service - BMW Mini Workshop
Good Day,
I would like to lodge a complaint with this company (GP Motor Works Gauteng) which is a BMW and Mini Cooper service workshop.
The owner of this establishment is Gilles Bedier and is 319 West Avenue, Randburg, Gauteng, South Africa.
I booked in my car on the 8th of November 2017 as my car had an oil leak and water leak which caused my car to over-heat.
My car was checked and diagnosed the same day and I was sent a quotation of R5738.42 for the job done. I was called later that day and was told that they picked up more faults on the car which was still cause the car to leak oil.
They sent me a second quote for an amount of R9346.36 which more things needed to be done on the vehicle. I gave them the go ahead which I was assured that everything will be fine.
I was then called the next day 09/11/2017 and was informed once again that my car is still in need of other parts as the water is still leaking and the 3rd quote was sent to me for an amount of R10 847.50 and according to the second and third quote nothing changed in terms of parts and labour however the amounts for each item(s) changed. I then went in the workshop to find out what's going on, and I was told a new mechanic was working on my car and he picked up some more things. I then asked what was diagnosed and why were these things not picked up on both occasion when I was sent the previous quotes. Anyway I gave them the go ahead...
I was called again on the 10/11/2017 and was informed that they have picked up something on the car causing the water leakage and certain things needed to be added of which the 4th quote was sent to me with an amount of R14 037.82
I fetched my car on the 25th and paid the full amount of R14 037.82 however the car was still leaking water and some of the things I paid for were still not done.
I received another quote today after taking this car in to complain and have it checked out again for an amount of R5738.42 of the things that are still missing. This amount is still outstanding and has not been paid.
I really feel that I have been taken for a ride and exploited.
I paid +/- R18 000 to get my car fixed...
I'm still not happy... Bunch of clowns I tell you
Thank you for your review. I understand your frustration.
Unfortunately, water leaks are notoriously difficult to deal with on these newer generation vehicles as the water pipes are delivered complete with factory fitted hose clamps, O-rings and clips. This makes it challenging to ensure the hose assembly is securely fitted as there are no traditional "hose clamps" which can be further tightened.
The other issues to take note of is that when we conduct the initial pressure test the water may only be leaking from one place. We then provide a quote that covers this specific leak. However, when we replace the part in question sometimes we pick up a new leak which didn't show up previously.
The majority of the parts that the hoses are connected to are all plastic and these connections get brittle over time.
Our records show your vehicle came in on two separate dates. It is not our practice to invoice for parts and then not fit them.
We trust this helps to answer the questions you raised.
