At the mercy of the subconttactor……

Gouws Transport was recommended to us by another moving company, however, unbeknownst to us, Megashift Logistics was subcontracted by Gouws Transport to manage our home move from Johannesburg to Cape Town.

Our load was collected on Friday 29 November, and contracted to be delivered within 1 - 3 days from date of collection. It is now the 4th of December, and our items are still in Johannesburg in some warehouse. We’ve been constantly contacting both Gouws Transport and Mega Shift Logistics, receiving promises of delivery “maybe Sunday or Monday” - which will make it a whole 9 - 10 days delivery from date of collection, with the reason being truck availability.

Their modus operandi seems to be to overbook their schedule in order to secure as many jobs as possible, then delivering at their own pace.

Based on the expected delivery as promised by both Gouws Transport and Mega Shift Logistics, we are a family of 4 now sitting in a completely empty home.

While Ursula from Gouws Transport is really sweet, and has tried, she has been seriously let her down by her subcontractor and does not seem to be able to resolve the issue. She is now also avoiding our calls, which is really distressing.

I would definitely not recommend using either Gouws Logistics or Mega Shift Transport - sometimes a good price is just too good to be true 😭
