NOT the cheapest airfare

I needed two tickets to Zimbabwe, and when searching the GoToGate website gave the cheapest option, flying Air Zimbabwe. The next cheapest option (SAA) was only US$10 more (for two tickets). However, I decided to book with GoToGate and Air Zimbabwe. Upon leaving Zimbabwe we were told we had to pay an additional US$100 for the two of us to the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe.

We queried this at the airport and found that this was a new procedure (instituted in the two weeks prior to our departure) that only Air Zimbabwe passengers had to pay, not those from other airlines. Considering we had paid our tickets a month prior and had already paid US$317 in taxes for our ticket to GoToGate, we realised we have probably been double charged.

On our return, I contacted Air Zimbabwe, who informed me they had only received money for the ticket, not for taxes from GoToGate. GoToGate insisted they had paid what was due, however despite several e-mails would not divulge the breakdown of the taxes we paid to them (i.e. taxes to SA airport for departure, taxes to Zim airports etc).

This looks extremely suspicious, and I do believe that GoToGate has "fobbed" us off as if things were above board, they would have sent us a detailed breakdown.
