I usually buy the Hot Kashmiri mix from Gorimas Spice Shop in Musgrave Center. My daughter who resides in Pretoria loves it too, so she usually requests that I purchase it for her before she flies back to PTA each time. However this last occasion that I visited Gorimas I was very disappointed with my purchase.. They did not have Kashmiri mix so offered me an alternative which was awful.. I called them and explained this to them and they asked me to bring the curry powder back in order to exchange it, since I had sampled mine, but my daughter's was still sealed... If I hadn't sampled it, then how else would I know that it was no good? I explained to the lady that I live a far distance from the store and that since I only come to the center to purchase curry powder from them, it's a bit of a wasted drive in terms of petrol costs... In fact the petrol to get there was more expensive than the cost of curry powder... Therefore I decided that if I have to go back all the way, I may as well purchase another two bags (especially if they are going to mix it right this time) so that I don't have to go up and down, wasting trips just for curry powder. Seetha guaranteed me that I would not be sorry this time as they would ensure that I get a good mix. When I got to the store, I requested a HOT mix and then ordered the additional bags. So now Here I am, with FOUR x approx R 60.00 bags of curry powder and this batch isn't any better than the first in the sense that the color is beautiful but the curry powder is not hot at all... In fact, it's not even mild. It's just bland.. It is sort of like just a food coloring without any potency at all. There is just no flavor, or strength to it at all. I am so annoyed, because this has been lengthy wasted trips (TWICE THERE AND BACK) in vain. What is happening with Goras? They used to sell great Kashmiri mix curry powder and now they simply can't get it right? And this come at the customers expense! I seriously don't look forward to driving back all the way as they will have to deal with an extremely irate customer. Nor do I want to be stuck with 4 x bags of useless curry powder... It defeats the purpose of why my daughter fails to purchase curry powder in PTA and opts to obtain it from Gorimas Durban!! Thank goodness she hasn't left for PTA yet, otherwise she would be very disappointed to be stuck with TWO bags of something she doesn't like.. Waste of money (including on petrol costs), waste of time, waste or energy (including on cooking) and a waste of ingredients put into the pot to create a meal. Do these people look at me and assume that I don't have a true concept of hot, or that I can not cook? It's now really getting on my nerves!
